The SINGLE LARGEST SEGMENT of individuals in the entertainment industry is that of the students & teachers participating in SECONDARY EDUCATION THEATRE.
Middle schools, junior and senior highs, public and private, all have some manner of the performing arts. Many elementary schools also do. Some of these groups have their own complexes, some have classes, all of them have productions, and some of them have full time instructors.
Our Association's personnel & expert network have visited thousands of secondary schools, taught in secondary schools, and provided inspections of secondary schools and their performing arts activities and facilities. We know of the hazardous exposures that exist in many, if not all, of the secondary school performing arts programs and facilities.
We'll wager that you will find some, if not many, of the hundreds of hazards in your theater that are found in other secondary theaters around the world. A lack of risk management and preventive maintenance procedures in your performing arts programs and activities puts you and your students at risk in great and daunting ways.
